Once upon a time, we needed an ERP system for a wholesale business.  We explored contracting a customized solution, but concluded that would be too uncertain and expensive a proposition. 

We looked at big name solutions and ultimately were persuaded to go with a leading ERP provider.  Little did we know what a nightmare we'd stepped into.  Aside from the licensing costs, the systems were so complex it became almost a full-time job over the course of literally months to learn the systems and go through the training and customization.  The worst of it was this was all "pre-implementation".  And in the end, the complex systems could not perform the simple business functions we really needed.

The primary function needed was managing unsold product on a retail shelf - recording this and managing it against invoicing.  After we were finally able to unchain ourselves from the brand name ERP provider, we set about building a simple solution that would accommodate our own needs.

We soon discovered the value of add-on solutions that would effectively link our entire enterprise into a single, integrated system.  We referred to this as our "own little ERP".  Did it have an expensive, time-consuming learning curve to get staff going?  Did it have all the bells and whistles that had so confused us with the name brand solution?  No! 

What it did do, however, is automate our core business processes, resulting in substantial and continuing cost-savings and efficiencies.  In other words, it did what we needed it to do.  We like to think of it as software serving the business, not vice versa.  And we sincerely hope Shrink Software might similarly serve your business. .
